Tort – Defamation – Litigation privilege

Where a plaintiff’s complaint alleged that the defendants defamed him when, in a pretrial memorandum in an earlier lawsuit over an easement, they asserted that the plaintiff, while an assessor for the town of Somerset, promised to raise taxes on their property unless they sold it to him at a discounted price, the complaint was correctly dismissed on privilege grounds.
