Law Enables Drivers to Display Proof of Auto Insurance on Phones

I always seem to have trouble finding my proof of auto insurance card in my car. And I frequently have last year’s card in there too, which complicates things. But now I just have to find my cell phone and I’m good to go.

Texas is now one of almost 30 states where it is legal to show proof of insurance by pulling up the policy card on your smart phone.

Most major car insurance companies offer apps where you can easily access your policy. If yours doesn’t, you can just take a photo of your proof of insurance card.

State Troopers still suggest carrying the paper card in your car just in case. But as of now, the electronic proof should work just fine.
